how do you change spark plugs on a honda civic 1990?

I pulled out the plugs, and its sorta weird. Its just rubber, inside is a small metal thing, i don't think its a spark plug, are honda's different or something? And I bought some spark plugs ( still need to buy torque wrench and coin gap or something) and the lady said it doesn't matter if its a 1.6 or 1.5 engine, the plugs will still be fine, is that true? thats cuase i couldn't find the engine type at all ( check side of door, engine, manuel and everything, even the lady came outside to check) i just bought the car 3 days ago.

First of all no it doesnt matter if its 1.5 or 1.6. And yes thats what the spark plugs are supposed to look like Anyways, to change them, u take out the spark plug wire and put a socket that fits spark plugs and un screw like a screw and it should come out easy. And yes all civics are the same they do have spark plugs.

don't believe the spare part dealers, they may misguide u just to sell their item. from the way you have mentioned the query, my opinion to you would be "it's good to do research and be aware of these things before getting it done somewhere" but after doing this research get your job done by some mechanic, just changing the plugs won't cost anything except for minimum labourt charges. if mechanic is known to u, he may do it free as well.

yes the plugs fit each size motor because the same cylinder head is on each motor.

the plug whole just has a rubber seal ring for the valve cover and the plugs may have the metal tube all used to seal the valve cover to hold in oil.
