How do you get an phone upgrade with T-mobile faster?

I'm currently in a 2 year contract and I've had my phone for a year and I really want a new one but T-mobile said I have to wait until October 2011. Are there any ways that I can get an upgrade faster? Preferably that are cost efficient.
