How do you get the Logitech LX8 wireless laser mouse to connect via

Bluetooth directly to the computer? I've read that it's possible to connect the Logitech LX8 mouse directly to a bluetooth-compatible PC, without the USB receiver. My computer has bluetooth and I've used it a lot with LEGO bots and transfering with my phone, so I know it works, but the computer can't see the device in the Bluetooth application window. Any ideas? Do I have to install a special driver or something? I've got the SmartPoint software from Logitech, but that doesn't seem to have any answers. Thanks!
