How do you burn videos onto a DVD so that you can watch them in your DVD player hooked up to your TV? For example, If I took a video on my mothers birthday and I uploaded it onto my computer, how would I write it onto a DVD so that I can walk into my office and put it in the DVD player and watch it on the TV? I tried to just burn it where you click on the video file and click burn, but it doesn't play in the DVD player. PLEASE HELP ME OUT HERE. I appreciate all the help I can get.

Things you need...

1. Blank DVD+R
2. DVD Drive
3. Good DVD burner software:
If you have Windows XP, I recommend CDBurnerXP Pro
You can download it here:
http://www.cdburnerxp.se/

If you have Windows Vista, I recommend DeepBurner Free Version
You can download it here:

download dvdflick from this link

http://www.dvdflick.net/download.php

when you have installed it go through the menu
general set to dvd 4.3gb
video needs to be set on pal for uk or ntsc for usa
burning set to burn project to disc
then press on use as defaults and you won't have to do it again press accept then off we go
click on add title and go to where your file is that you want to burn and double click on the file you want.
then click on create disc put a dvd in your drive and dvd flick will now convert and burn to your disc and will play on standalone dvd players.

the next time you use it you will only have to add title and create disc as everything else stays set. you will get a message in a red box saying ti will delete a file but just click ok as this will be the iso file it created for your last burn and you don't need that anymore.

sounds complicated but really it isn't it's the easiest burning program i have ever come across and one of the quickest as well it takes approx 45 mins to an hour to complete the whole process depending on the size of your file.

oh and by the way it is completely free

Use TOTAL VIDEO CONVERTER to convert the video to the DVD NTSC file format. Total Video Converter will then automatically burn the video to DVD for you and will be able to be played in any standard DVD player.

Also you could try DVD FLICK
