How do you open a notepad html file with internet explorer on vista?

I tried right clicking and opening with internet explorer, but that just showed all the text in the internet explorer window. Then I tried saving as a webpage file but the only one it showed in the drop down was text file. I guess it must be different because i've never done it on vista before, only XP. So, how do i view it in internet explorer, I DON'T MEAN ACTUALLY POST IT TO THE INTERNET, I MEAN JUST PREVIEW IT WITH THE INTERNET EXPLORER WINDOW.
 
in IE just go to file > open...
then find the file on your comp and open it
