How do you reduce the size between lines when double spacing?

i need my paper double spaced...
however the space between my sentences are really wide and my teacher always thinks that i've done something to my computer to make my paper look longer-_____-
helpp pleaseee?

i've tried 1.5 spacing but its too narrow for me):
makes my essay look sooo short and my teacer's all about length:/
 
Reduce the line height or change the line spacing to less than 2 but more than 1.

Are you hitting the enter key twice at the end of every line? Instead, find in the menus the option to change the line spacing and just hit the enter key once. See if that helps.
