How do you remove the batteries on a DIRECTV remote control?

I've been trying to remove them from the back, but it's literally impossible. I even tried to pry them out with a screwdriver, but even that isn't working. Help, plz.
 
WOW! I'm impressed with your self control. I would've threw it against a wall before asking online. if you can actively see them, hold the non battery side in hand and smack it till they fall out. That's what I do. If that don't work, you should step out your front door and scream RAPE! until someone comes to help you.
 
Try a screwdriver or a butter knife. If this doesn't work, call Directv (1-800-347-3288) and tell them to send you a new one (takes about 1-2 days). Its obvious something isn't right because its not supposed to be that tight. I have Directv and the remote batteries come out relatively easy when I use my fingernails.
