Here's an example of a way to grab the reader and make you look like a good writer.
Think about a common fear, like a fear of heights. Frame the story with a beginning like, "Jill's new boyfriend wanted to visit the Empire State Building." Build on Jill's fears as her mind races and she thinks about all the things that scare her about heights. Elevator falling, 9/11 airplanes. Vertigo. Thinking so much about her fear that she throws up or freaks out. Being afraid that she's gonna do something she'd never want to do like that inexplicable desire to jump or throw something valuable off the observation deck.
After that, jump into your topic about fears and how to conquer them.
The big thing about fear is how it can prevent you from doing the things you want to do, but another aspect of it is the fear of the fear: letting someone else know that you're afraid.
Next steps: how that person learned thoughts and practices to overcome the fear. Jill focusing on a romantic kiss, a great view, or a great photo opp.
Cool topic. Now go write a good paper!
