...Channels in the Horizon? Hello,
Can someone please explain to me how satellites are aligned in the sky's horizon and how a satellite dish picks up its signals? I am located in NYC in zip code 10029.
I am trying to find Chinese Mandarin FTA channels and was told that the satellites are on AMC 4, Galaxy 3C, IA5, SatMex5, etc. Using a motorized 31" satellite dish, I understand that the dish rotates left to right and right to left or horizontally, but it does not elevate up and down (vertically) as the mounting bracket is in a fixed position and held with a few bolts and nuts.
Are all these satellites centrally located on the same horizon settings so the dish only needs to turn left and right to pick up those tv channels? What about those satellites that need to be reached if the dish needs to elevate up and down? How is this done if the motorized dish only rotates horizontally?
Thanks.
