how does gaming on the ipad feel?

i want to get an ipad or an ipad mini for college. I thought the ipad mini would be cool because it's more portable and already good for gaming. On the other hand, i would prefer to have a bigger display for things like evernote and pages etc. So basically, its for school and gaming. What I would play:

dead trigger
respawnables
modern combat 4
battle nations

so my question, how does it feel?
