How does having a larger rear tire on my bike help me?

It would not make any difference.

On a 600 you dont want a super wide tyre it will slow your turn in speed.

Dont forget that no matter how wide the tyre is, there is no more then a credit card sized contact patch on the track.

Like the above user has stated unless your running it on the strip, leave it stock.
