...speed of upto 2.4Mbps.? Would the download speed be around 30kbps.
The service is Tata Indicom's Photon plus.
Because a previous wireless connection for laptop with 230.4kbps speed gives download speed of around 11kbps.(PlugtoSurf from Tata indicom)
 
Do not mix KB/s (kilobyte) and kbps (kilobits). 1 kilobyte=8 kilobits. It's possible that you mixed the 11KB/S with kbps. Even then it's still below the promised speeds.
