I have an 06 3.5 Altima, and it's been very manigable in snow. The only times I've had the car slide was because of me and I tried to stop too sudden. And as for tires, I have the Bridgestone Turanza All-Season tires which are the "performance" ones for my model. But it's an easy car to drive in foul weather as long as you're smart.
My girlfriend has one, and I have to say that it, like most front wheel drive cars, performs well due to the fact that it's a front wheel drive car, with plenty of weight over the wheels. Braking also seemed confident, I've never lost control of the car. I would recommend all-wheel drive for snowy conditions, though, for more traction in turning and acceleration.
Also, although not related to the snow/ice traction, the CVT transmission is very smooth.
