How long after buying a phone from Bell can I get a different one?

We switched to Bell recently and my parents got me a new phone. It wasn't the one I wanted. I told them I wanted an iPhone 4S and gave them the money for it (I was in France). I've had the phone they got me for a couple months and I HATE it. It's a terrible phone, so I want to get an iPhone 4S. My other phone is on a contract. Can I switch at anytime? I called Bell but you can never understand a damn word they say.
