How long after chewing my last peice of nicorette gum, can I smoke another cigarette?

I am attepting to quit smoking eventaully and I have used the nicorette for the past 24 hours, but i feel that i am not ready to quit smoking yet. Just to keep from over dosing on nicotine, how long should it be before i smoke another cigarette? My last peice of nicorette gum was around 10pm. thanks.
