How long before a girl loses interest?

Long story short, this girl was starting to show interest (after I showed interest) but I totally didn't see it. I thought she wasn't interested, so I tried to give her space. Months go by and I find out that she was interested and had a crush on me. I started talking to her a lot more recently and she's acting interested, even more so than before. I thought for sure she would have lost interest though since it's been like 3 months with not much talking. If she's STILL interested after 3 months, does that mean she really likes me? And how long before she loses interest completely? I'm still shy around her, for some weird reason and I don't want to scare her away because of my shyness.
