How long can i wait to report a car accident to my car insurance?

I was in an accident where i hydroplaned off the road and hit a guard rail, my car is still driveable but there is quite a large dent and i dont have the money to pay the deductible, can i wait until i have the money for the deductible and then report the claim? ...really cant stand looking at this dent
