how long do you have to leave a fish in a bag in the water for?

we have six tropical fish and we bought them today. there in there tank with new clean water but there in there bags, how long do i leave them like that?

6 r 2 manys have u cycld ur tank yet ? leave them 2omins in bag make sure ur turn light off and dont feed till 2moro good luck

You should be adding your tank water to the bag slowly and taking out some of whats in their bag, till they are swimming in your tank water in their bag- that usually takes 3 hours or so for fish to become acclimated to their new water.

I use a turkey baster and take out 1 suck from their bag and pour it down the drain then add 3-4 from your tank to the bag- repeat as required.
