My car, a Toyota Corolla '97 XL, recently drowned in the storm. After getting advice from others, they said an oil change is in order. So I had my oil change and thankfully, the engine was running. But to my dismay, the timing belt snapped and the whole car just stopped. The mechanic said it needs an overhaul and gave me parts to buy including the rocker arm that snapped, a cylinder head gasket, engine valves, a tensioner, the timing belt and a fan belt. I followed the instructions to the letter and had him take care of everything, only to find out that the engine needs an overhaul. Having no choice, I paid for the machine shop repairs. My car's already being worked on but still, I'm very anxious about what's happening.
The question is how long does an overhaul really take? I'm kind of worried already about the fact that it's taking days for me to get my car back. Our resources are nearly drained and what's worse, my mother's getting pissed. I need an answer ASAP. Thanks!
