How long does the pain last after a root canal is done?

I get this sore feeling now after the root canal was done. My dentist prescribed me to Ibuprofen, but it doesn't kick in anymore. It's been over 3 days since it was done. My dentist also prescribed me to this other pill (forgot the name) because there was pus when they were doing it and it should help with infection and stuff (I waited 5 years before I had the balls to actually get it done; only did it because my orthodontist was worried I'd lose the tooth).

Anywhere from a couple days to a week or so. No more then two weeks, but if you are in a lot of pain you need to call the dentist office and ask them to switch you to a different med. Sometimes people just build up fast tolerences to medications.
