Look up your own facts for a change
Glenn Beck does not 'recruit' anyone for anything. He posts quotes and videos on his shows (while frantically flailing his arms, a chalk board, and some tears), then challenges his viewers to do their own research. Yes, he is complaining about our government, but so are LOTS of people in America right now. Look up some of his points and try to prove what he says as wrong. He shows why he makes the statements he does on his show, so he is giving his proof to back up his statements. If his statements were so easy to debunk, why haven't they? People complain that he's a nutjob, etc., but no one says he is wrong. I'll challenge you the same way he challenges his viewers: prove him wrong.
TEA party? You know, the TEA party probably would not exist if our government wasn't spending over a TRILLION dollars in the red the last couple years. Wasn't one of the big reasons he was elected was because of the whole "cut the deficit by 50%"? In 2008, when Bush left office, the deficit was about 3.18% of the GDP. 1st year after Obama the deficit was about 9.91% of GDP. So is his plan of cutting it by 50% mean cutting it back down to about 4.5% of GDP? Because that is still a lot higher than it was when he took office.
Also, the TEA party is of no affiliation, republican or democrat. They represent fiscal conservatism, and there are a few democrats who are. The TEA party is primarily made up of the right wing and independants, as well as the left who understand that government spending has spiraled way out of control. Maybe do your own research before posting.
Liberals protect civil rights? That's the going theory, but anyone who actually looks into it a bit realizes not so much. Right now, the liberals are pushing social welfare programs. 99 weeks of unemployment? 2 years of unemployment discourages people from looking for work. The welfare system, for the most part, enslaves people to it. It is not designed to help the poor, they simply see free money and stay on it. Entitlement programs that take money from those who work, and give to those who do not, only creates more people who do not work.
One thing the Democrats always seem to take credit for is the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Final vote tally:
Senate
Democratic Party: 46-21 (69%–31%)
Republican Party: 27-6 (82%–18%)
House
Democratic Party: 153-91 (63%–37%)
Republican Party: 136-35 (80%–20%)
Republicans were overwhelming in support of the Civil Rights Act, the Democrats are the ones that held it up, filibustered and delayed it, and had to be convinced to pass it. As bipartisan as the entire civil rights movement was, the democrats take credit and the republicans are assumed as "opposition". In 1963, support for integration was 70-75%, with the biggest obstacle being the democrats. Without the overwhelming support of the Republicans, the Democrats would have successfully killed the bill.
Next time, do your homework. Socialism does not help the poor, it just keeps them poor, and makes more people poor. I am a middle class, middle of the road independent with leanings to either side depending on the issue.
I leave some quotes:
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
- Thomas Jefferson
A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.
- Thomas Jefferson
Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfills the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things.
- Winston Churchill
