Just bought a 2012 cannondale caad 10 4. Been riding my old steel Ross (39lbs) and I avg. 16 mph on a 10 miles ride I do to the trails/park. The new bike does not have the compact crank. Ross has an old skip tooth crank and I think I counted 27teeth so would be equivalent to a 54 in the front?

The 27 skip teeth will be equivalent to a 54.

The caad will weight about half, close to 20 lbs.

The big chainring on the caad could have 50 or 52 th.

None of the information you give will be any indication of how fast or faster you will go. My gess is that you would go 5 miles faster. There, how you like that?
