How much is a v16 (Slimline) PS2 in the US/Japan?

I was wondering where it is better to have one bought from, I was considering Japan though I'm not really sure what dialect the OS would be in (will it still be English, or Japanese?), though I'll go with the cheaper one. I heard that it was only a 100$ but isn't that way back then? Has it increased in price due to obvious circumstances or has it actually lowered. Then again, what is it that is included in the 100$ (presumably) package, just the unit and AC, or does it actually include controllers?
