I got a letter from comcast about copy right infringement, and I definitely intend to cut back on downloading and I when I have more money I want to get a netflix account, and maybe look into cheap legal mp3 options.. But I'm a very poor college student right now, and it's basically either downloading or not really having any access to media because of how overpriced everything is. So I don't want to stop completely unless I know for sure I absolutely have to. Most of the things I found on the internet pertaining to comcast said that I'll be fine as long as it doesn't happen again. The thing is I really wasn't doing much to begin with so I never thought I would get in trouble for it. I always read that only the people who download and upload copious amounts of content get in trouble.
I know a good way to not get caught is just not seed, but that's kind of a dick move isn't it? If that's really one of the best ways I'll do it at least until I can switch my internet provider (I heard comcast is worse at cracking down on illegal downloading than other companies..?) Also I've heard that you only get targeted if you have massive amounts of things that you've downloaded.. But I only got the letter for one thing, and I really don't download much or seed for very long and yet I still got the letter.
That's all a little repetitive.. But I'm just trying to explain this, and I'm a little rushed so sorry about that.
But I just need to know effective ways to prevent getting caught. Anything will help.
I'm using u torrent, and I get most of the files off of kickasstorrents.com, and I'm in the U.S. as well if any of that helps.
