How to be friendly but not let them think im interested?

I just started helping out at this volunteering place and I would talk to everyone as if they are friends. Would smile, being friendly, etc. But will being too friendly with everyone...especially guys....make them think im cheap? that im desperate, flirty, etc? I don't want to be any of that.

Any advice on how to act around guys without appearing to be interested in them?

it doesn't cost anything to be nice. if you are worried about that they will think you're cheap, then you're doing something wrong. you don't always have to do all the talking either, find out what they like and ask them questions. people like talking about what they are intererested in.
