Attach at least one brass bell to pack frame as repeated noise will alert bears to your presence.
Holster your bear chemical defense aerosol on torso front upon backpack strap. Strobe devices
on front and back are helpful during low light conditions to warn wildlife away. Bears can smell
prospective meals up to twenty miles distant so avoid smelling like a traveling grocery. .44 or .357
are the recommended pistol defense calibers but 12 gage shotgun using slugs would be safer.
the only reason a bear should be getting into your pack is for food or because hes mauling you. So just keep zip lock bags in your pack and keep the food in there and they cant smell it. As for not getting your ass mauled carry two metal pipes or anything that will make a loud noise when you bang them so you dont just stumble into a sleeping bear or a bear with cubs.
