im going to buy a home theater system and i want to know what cable you need in order to get the sound from your tv to your home theater system?? please show me the picture of the cable i need and also tell me the name of the cable

Check your TV's manual. It depends on the TV, but most likely you will need a Toslink Optical Cable.

Of course, it is better to run from your cable box to home theater system to your TV (via HDMI) - don't need any optical cable in this case.

If you are buying a home theater in a box, then you are going to need an optical cable to connect from the tv to the home theater. Keep in mind that most home theater in a box are not very flexible in adding other items to them. Check to see what they have for input connection. A better choice is an Onkyo HT-S 3300, it is a 5.1 receiver and a set of speakers, you can connect many things to it like your PS3, XBOX 360, a dvd or blu ray disc player. You can look at the Panasonic BD-85 blu ray disc player, it is one of the best player in the entry level. The whole system would cost you around $600. You are also going to need an HDMI cable to connect the home theater to the tv. Hope this will help you out.

It is going to depend on the TV you have and the home theatre system you buy.

Sometimes it is a Toslink Digital Optical Cable.... sometimes it is a Digital Audio Coax Cable, sometimes it could be an HDMI cable .... I could keep going as there are other possibilities too. As far as showing you a picture, all you have to do is copy the text into google and put quotes around it and it seems as though you should be able to do that.
