How to convince parents to get me an Acura TSX instead of brand new subaru legacy?

Ok, so my parents and I are looking for a car for me. I looked at an Acura TL that I wanted, but they didn't approve. (price, gas, miles, etc) However, they offered me a almost brand-new 2009 subaru legacy with 11000 miles on it, that cost 16000 but wasnt nice at all. The one I am looking at, is a 2006 Acura TSX with 40000 miles for 14000. How do I convince somebody as stubborn as my father to go with the TSX? He probably knows its better but is still to stubborn to understand and only wants to get me a subaru because its "a new car." I really don't care if it's new though, because I dont like it. Any Ideas???
btw I have been driving for months and had no tickets or accidents, and am currently driving a 2007 Nissan altima 2.5SL with nav for now, as my cushion for not buying either.
 
Honestly the subaru sounds like a better car. Subaru is an extremely good car maker. AWD is very nice to have. For only 2000 dollars more, you're getting a car with ALOT less miles on it, which in the end is gonna last you alot longer. Even though 90% of people wreck their first car :P
 
What I'd do is compare the cost of ownership between the two (gas, insurance, maintenance etc) and see where you end up. The cost of a car does not end at the purchase price!

Maybe there's a new car that costs the same as the Legacy that you like better? Plenty to be had for around $16,000.

Beyond that though, just accept, your parents are giving you a car and you're going to get what they give you.
 
Subarus are totally beastly. They have AWD and are pretty much some of the best cars in terms of power and handling. Consider yourself lucky that your parents will buy you a car, most of us aren't so lucky. Used cars can have problems and need maintainence even at 40k. I think your dad is right.
 
Why on earth are parents buying cars like this for their kids? You wonder what the hell is wrong with this country, kids are being spoiled like crazy. You should buy your own damn car, and start off with a 99 ford taurus, so you can go and wreck it.
 
Ricky have you ever tried making out in an Acura? Not happening. Plus the legacy will take you to some more secluded places that the Acura could never go.
