How to get free ringtones for a virgin mobile lg rumor touch.?

I have had some friends send me some tones and it wont let me assign the tone to my phone it says wrong format ... somebody please help me find a way to get some tones please for this phone ... i had over 100 on my memory card from my chocolate touch but this phone wouldnt recognize them.... please help ...
