How to get out of a 1 year contract with cingular? ?

I have 2 phones on my bill. One was my ex's so that one is a 9.99 fee that I have to pay even though the phone is not being used. My phone is hardly ever used and I'm paying a total of 65.00 a month. I'm pretty much broke and need this expense cut out of my bills. Any ideas? Thank you
 
Normally you would have to pay the early termination fee. I would call them and explain your situation, and speak to a someone at a higher level when you call (ask the CSR nicely, and they'll connect you). They might be willing to work something out or reduce the fee.
