How to get rid of a sore throat?

Ever since second grade I have been susceptible to sore throats since my tonsils were removed. I know when I am about to get a sore throat but the only things that I have been able to do to shorten the longevity of it is drinking a lot of orange juice on the first sign. However I just want to know what should I do to get rid of a sore throat when I know I'm about to have it the nxt day?
