how to get rid of small fishes that i dont want?

i recently have a cardinal tetra and a neon tetra and i know that it should be in a shoal of 5 or more but i just got it from a funfair now i need to get rid of it as i dont want it. not the cruel way i mean something like giving the fish to a local petstore but i think the uncle from the store will not be happy as he is always looking so fierce and i am afraid to ask him about it. now what i want to ask is. is there any other way to get rid of it other than asking my local petstore? if there is none can you guys tell me how to talk to him and how to tell him.and... what are the reasons for local fishstore owner to take in my fishes?
