How to know if a guy is just being friendly or if he is romantically interested?

What differences in behavior are there? Some guys are friendly to me and i just figured they are friendly people. I never thought they had a crush til they tried to kiss me, which surprised me and embarrassed them. Shy guys are difficult too, because they try to hide their interest in a girl.

How can I tell for sure?
