How to play a video I just aquired with the extension DVDSCR xviD-MAx?

Won't open in any player i have e.g. windows media. It is saved as an avi extension but is not in that format

Do you have an xvid codec installed on your PC? If not, a great program for playing almost any video or audio file is VLC media player. The Windows version comes with codecs for everything. VLC does not install directshow codecs so Windows Media player will not be able to use its codecs. The advantage is that you will not mess up Windows Media player by installing it.
