How to put divx movie on to dvd to watch using my JVC NX-F3?

How to put divx movie on to dvd to watch using my JVC NX-F3?
I placed a folder containing my divx movie on to a dvd but the dvd player just continues to read and nothing else. It seems to freeze, is there a special way I should be placing my divx movie on the dvd ?
Sugestions please.

i use a program called DVDFlick. its free and will allow the dvd to be played on any DVD player.
