How to rescue a deleted partition (main install for windows 7)?

I am dual booting Windows 7 and XP. I wanted to change the partitions on my external hard drive so I used Partition Magic - it came up with some errors which I clicked through but when I restarted Windows 7 was gone as was the hard drive it was installed on.
What is a good way to either recover this partition or recover some of the files that were on it?
