how to set itunes to automatically back up my iphone and ipod when i plug

it into the computer? My iphone used to backup automatically every time i plugged it into my mac/itunes.

it stopped automatically backing up after i boiught my new phone. i must have changed some setting? how to i get itunes to automatically backup (and sync? if neccisary?) when i plug it in?
