How to upload cellphone pictures to desktop?

I have a Samsung Rogue from Verizon.
However, I cancelled my Verizon contract, so technically I don't have a phone anymore.
I still carry it around with me, however, and use it to take pictures.
It used to be that I could simply upload them directly to the internet from my phone.
HOWEVER, since I'm not connected anymore I can't upload them.
I tried uploading it with the USB cord to my desktop, but instead of something appearing on the screen, my phone starts charging instead >_<

How can I upload it? Do I have to go somewhere on the Start menu of my computer to begin the process of uploading it??

VIA BLUETOOTH:. You could send it using bluetooth. Just select the picture and find somewhere in the menu where it says send and/or send via bluetooth. I am not really sure how to do that step because I don't know the phone, but most phones work the same with bluetooth. Of course this step is more complicated if you have a PC and you don't really know what your doing. I could give you more detailed steps but I don't have the phone or a PC.

VIA USB FOR PC: Plug in your phone. On your PC go into my computer. Select the drive that is your phone. I am not sure what it is because, again, I don't have a PC. Once your in your phone drive on your computer select the folder where the pics are. Right click the pics you want and click move to file or some shit like that. I hate PC's.

VIA USB FOR MAC: Plug in your phone and open finder. From finder go into your phone (it should say memory card or phone on your side bar). From there click and drag the pics onto your desktop.
