How to use DVD shrink?

I made a movie in Adobe Premier CS3 but it's massive (11.5 gb) which means i can't burn it onto a DVD. I heard that avi files (which is what it is) are really inflated and it can actually be a lot smaller. I installed DVD shrink, but I've no idea how to use it. It won't let me open any files and whatnot. I'm really confused...
