How Would one Stop an Update from Downloading through McAffee Internet Protection?

Ok, this seems simple enough, but my friend has McAffee Internet Protection (which I have heard many people have problems with) and it has these updates that are downloading....she has dial up and for what ever reason, cannot get them to stop at all....She has called tech support and aparently what they told her didn't work...it just keeps coming back....On top of being slow already from dial up, she can't download anything else because its taking hours for a simple program since this other won't stop running.....How can she stop this from downloading????Any one have experience with MCAffee??? Thanks in advance! (oh, and she doesnt want to delete the program just yet....)

I have McAfee and it automatically does any updates every four hours.What I might suggest is open McAfee and then configuration.In the auto update box select off.Before going of line or finishing for the day is go back and select on.That way it should do the updates whilst offline.Well hopefully so
