...his gift.? Dad always says that he doesn't want anything for Christmas. Of course, we always get him gifts. Last year, he hinted he wanted a digital camera. We got him a Canon camera that cost $85 (ok, it wasn't the kind used by papparazzi which can cost $5000). He said that we should have gotten him a "good camera." I am not sure he even knows what he means-- he doesn't even know how to use the internet let alone most cameras.

Now, we do not want to be mean bc he is sick and probably won't have too many Christmases left.

How can we handle this (in a nice way)? We thought about gift cards, but in the past, he just put them in a drawer and never got around to going to those stores. Thanks.

Pool your money, buy him only one gift, and make it really awesome?

If he says he doesn't want anything, take him at his word. His complaints may simply be his way of trying to get you to stop spending money on him. Or, instead of a store-bought gift, get him something hand-made of something you baked.
