My bf is in grad school and I understand how busy his schedule is and how tired he can get. I try to be as understanding and patient since I was in that position a year ago. This morning I got a text from him saying, "I'm skipping my classes to see you today!...just kidding." I don't know if he was trying to be funny but if he was, he failed miserably. When I first read that, I thought, "I'm going to see you today....NOT! muahahaha" I wasn't expecting to see him and honestly, I'm really not in the mood to today...busy and especially after that unfunny joke. I'm probably PMSing. Was he trying to be funny?
Yeah exactly. Why would he say something like that? It's so annoying and sounds childish. If he was trying to be funny, I don't see the humor in it, to be honest. I don't ever expect him to skip classes over me (which is stupid) so it's not like I was expecting him to.
 
That is not even a little bit funny, if you ask me.

I don't want to bring drama into your relationship, but I think I would ask him what he thought was so funny.
 
He probably talks like that to his guy friends and doesn't mean for you to get offended. Why would he want to hurt you? Saying "just kidding", he probably means something like "as if i'm going to get away with skipping school with all this stupid work". Like you said, he's tired anyway. We all say silly things when we're tired:)
