To be honest, atheism is quite dismal in terms of hope and the possibility of seeing your relatives - if there is an afterlife. I know science is guiding the world down a good path, but I really want to know if there is a god, higher spirit, beginning, etc. I don't want to wallow around life without purpose - any atheist can try to refute this statement - everything is relative and nothing is good or evil - in essence there is no moral absolute.

I hear about the Bible, the Torah, the Bhagavad Gita, the Tao de Ching, the Koran, the Dhammapada, etc; and I don't know which one is truth. Each of these books are considered absolute except and touted to be absolute except the Tao de Ching and the Dhammapada.

I was raised Roman Catholic but I've already committed the unpardonable sin of rejecting the holy spirit, or denying it, so Christianity is out the door.

I just don't want to live my life without any higher purpose than myself, my friends, and my family, in essence, atheism is like a blackhole - nothing is wrong or immoral except that which you make it.

Any suggestions?
