I bought a few blue ray DvD'S that came with digital copies. What is a digital copy?

I purchased a few new title blue ray dvds that came with digital copies as well as the blue ray dvd movie. My question is what is the digital copy that i received with the blue ray dvd. The only thing i can think of is its a extra copy of the dvd but regular version not the blue ray but not sure.
