i cant play video on my DIVX plus player?

i have downloaded the torrent for the new harry potter movie, but everytime i click to play, it opens on the DIVX plus player but the video doesnt play.i can play it on fast forward though which is weird but it doesnt play the movie on normal mode.i have downloaded all the software aswell but it just doesnt play. :( can someone please help me out and tell me why its doing this because its very frustrating. thanks in advance
its a mkv file guys, so will it make a difference to the quality if i play it on VLC player or any other media player? thanks :)
 
VLC is an excellent player, but if your video is in avi or divx format you can also use Windows Media Player. If it's in mkv format you can use Media Player Classic (free at download.com). The Divx Player can sometimes be a little buggy.
