I downloaded a few torrents, but I decided to stop... could I still get a fine?

So a couple weeks ago I downloaded a couple torrents, but then I realized that I probably shouldn't be doing that, because I'm afraid of get some huge fine or something - so I decided to stop.
I only downloaded a couple, so is it likely that I could get caught?
