rusting on the axles, is this safe? The front and rear axles have alot of rust on them, whenever I hit a bump I hear a scraping sound. I don't make a lot of money and I NEED the car for school.
Surface rust is not a big issue. If it is rust through or bad pitting the axles should be replaced. The sound you hear is not caused by rust on an axle unless it has gone dry of lubricant.
