i dropped my sony ericsson xperia ray in the shower and the backlight isn't working?

i dropped it in the shower 5 days ago, i removed the battery and left it in a bag of rice for a few days, now it works but the screen is too dim to be able to use the phone, i can see things faintly and have tried to adjust the brightness in settings but it's still too dim, is it worth buying a new battery? are there any other solutions?
