the situation.... i was riding in a 45 mph zone. i was going 55 and the way the road is, i can see the cop coming from a distance. and he is turning, so his radar is even pointed in our direction. from behind me, i can see a car is coming up pretty fast, has to be going at least 75 to be aprroaching that fast. he passes me, sees the cop, and slams his breaks. by this time the cop has passed us and i can see his break lights, meaning hes turning around. i was going 50 at this time because i made sure to hold my speed. the car speeds through a red light and i pull into the turning lane. i thought i was ok until the cop pulls behind me and pulls me over. the bullshit part? he says i was going 66. my question is, i have court on the 10th. i ride a yamaha r6 which is a sport bike. i dont want to hire a lawyer because i want to talk to the judge and try and explain my story. the only thing is, i think hes going to look at me like an idiot because these bikes are known for going fast in my area. what i have on my side is that i had a passenger as a witness and i took a rider safety course 1 month prior to the event. honestly i was not speeding. ive gotten tickets when driving in my car and ill confess to those, but this one, the cop was just using me as an alternative for losing that other car and being that i was on a bike, he gave me the ticket. what should i do? get a lawyer and suck up the 3 points on my license followed by a $900 fine? or should i talk to the judge and possibly get worse?
