i got a stupid ticket yesterday for tinted window on my car..what is the legal

Section 375 (12-a) of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law prohibits overly dark windshields or dark front and rear side windows, which must admit at least 70 percent of available light. It is illegal to sell, install or drive with auto glass that does not comply with this law. If a medical condition warrants a different standard, the vehicle owner may request an exemption.
 
percentage for tint on your car? what is the legal percentage for tinted windows on your car in nyc?
 
The ticket isn't stupid. The law existed BEFORE you tinted the windows. Might want to rethink that one...

It's a state law so it will vary, but in vegas you can have 5 on the back and i think its 20 for the rest. Cali I'm pretty sure you need to be a commercial car to use tint.
